Step 1

PaoChueh Temple

PaoChueh Temple was built in 1927 and is a Buddhist temple with a giant 600 kg bell tower and a seven-story tall Maitreya Statue. The temple housed the ashes of former Japanese and Taiwanese soldiers who died in World War II. Many Japanese who are Buddhist believers come visit the temple every year.

Step 2

Miyahara Ice Cream

The building which houses Miyahara Ice Cream was built in 1927 when the Japanese were ruling Taiwan. At that time, Japanese Ophthalmologist Miyahara used the building as his ophthalmology clinic. Now, visitors can enjoy special flavored ice cream and Taiwanese cakes inside this historic building.

Step 3

Rainbow Village Taichung

A former soldier was in his 90s when he started painting the veteran's village into a colorful rainbow village. Visitors will see all the colorful paintings Rainbow Grandpa has painted and will even meet Rainbow Grandpa in person.

Step 4

Gaomei Wetland

Gaomei Wetlands possesses a rich wetland ecology and is best for birds and sunset viewing.
