Taichung International Airport, also known as Taichung Airport, is an international airport terminal located in Taichung, Taiwan. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) Taichung Airport Code is RMQ. Previously known as Ching Chuan Kang Flight Terminal or Qingquangang Flight Terminal, it is a military and civilian airport. Taichung Airport address is at No.168, Sec. 1, Zhonghang Rd., Shalu Dist., Taichung City 43348, Taiwan. The airport is a gateway to all the top Taichung tourist spots.
Taichung Airport serves flights from Taichung to Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, South Korea, Vietnam, and Bangkok. Currently, there is no direct flight from Singapore to Taichung International Airport. If you are flying from Singapore to Taichung, the best way is to fly to Taoyuan International Airport and take Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR) or bus to Taichung.

Airport Information
Taichung Airport opens at 06:00 in the morning and closes after the arrival of the last flight or 11:00 p.m. The airport encompasses an area of about 88,445 square meters. There are 2 terminal buildings, domestic terminal and international terminal. The length of the runway is 359 meters and 61 meters wide.

Shopping Tax Refund for Foreign Passengers

Passenger Service Counter
The airport has Passenger Service Counters. The Passenger Service Counter provides information service, disabled service, emergency aid, and emergency service. Passenger Service Counter at the International Terminal opens from 5:30 am and closes at 11:00 pm. The service counter at the Domestic Terminal opens from 06:00 in the morning and closes after the last flight.
Financial Service
The airport has financial service counters in Arrival and Departure Hall of the International Terminal to provide foreign currency exchange service. The service counter at the Arrival Hall opens from 6:00 am and closes at 11:00 pm. The service counter at the Arrival Baggage Claim Zone opens from 9:00 am and closes at 4:00 pm.
In addition to the financial service counter, there are three ATM Cash Withdrawal Service installed at the airport.
Please note that according to Taiwanese regulation, passengers shall not bring in more than NT $100,000, RMB $20,000, and other foreign currencies equivalent to USD 10,000 in cash. If you are arriving in Taiwan and carrying more than USD 10,000 in cash or the equivalent of USD 10,000 in other currencies, please notify the Taiwan Customs Agency immediately.
Cell Phone and SIM Card
Chunghwa telecom provides Taiwan 4G SIM Card service at Taichung Airport. The service counter is located at the International Terminal Departure Hall. Their phone number is 04-26155100. It opens from 10:00 am and closes at 10:00 pm.
Baggage Packing
The airport also provides baggage packing services. For small and medium-size baggage (height below 70cm), the cost is NT50 per baggage. For packing large baggage (height between 70 to 85cm), the cost is NT80 per baggage. The baggage packing counter is located at the Arrival Hall. Business phone number is 04-2615-5233. Opening hours are from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm.
Storage Services
In addition, the airport also provides computer-controlled automatic locker storage services. The storage charge for big locker is NT $50 and NT $30 for 3 hours.
For small and medium-size baggage (height below 70cm), the cost is NT $50 per baggage. For packing large baggage (height between 70 to 85cm), the cost is NT $80 per baggage. The baggage packing counter is located at the Arrival Hall. Locker storage services opens from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm.
International Terminal Food and Beverage Services
The airport also provides Chinese and western set meals, including coffee, tea, and sparkling mineral water. The foods and beverages at Taichung Airport are reasonably priced. You can find food and beverage service at the International Terminal arrival Hall on the first floor and passengers’ waiting lounge on the third floor. The service hour is from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Duty Free shops
Taichung Airport Duty Free shops sells duty free products, cigarettes, and alcohols imported from other countries, handicraft articles, perfumes, cosmetics, and domestic specialties. There are two Duty Free shops at the Airport. One is located at International Terminal Passengers’ waiting lounge on the third floor. The other one is located at the International Terminal Immigration clearance corridor on the second floor. The opening hours for the Duty Free shops are from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Borrowing a Baby stroller
Borrowing and returning procedure when departing.
- Passengers shall register their “boarding pass” and provide a contact number.
- Passengers may use the baby stroller outside the control area and reach inside of the control area with it. They shall pass baby strollers to the airline personnel, and the airline company will return it to the service desk.

- The airline company shall apply for a baby stroller, and passengers will be able to collect the stroller at the arrival service center on the second floor.
Charging Service
Taichung Airport provides a charging service for travelers visiting Taiwan. The mobile charging service is located on the first and third floor of the Domestic Terminal and International Terminal.
Taichung Airport Traffic & Transportation
To Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR) Transfer Information
Bus No. 156. Take Bus No. 156 from the airport to THSR Taichung Station. It takes about 40 minutes.
Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Sun Moon Lake Route. Taichung Airport to THSR Taichung Station shuttle departs from the airport every day at 3:20 pm. The traveling time is around 30 minutes from the Airport to THSR Taichung Station.
Car Rental Service

Taxi Service
Travelers can find taxis lining up at the B1 exit of the Exit Area. After exiting the airport, travelers can find a taxi along the traffic lane, and the taxi fare is charged by meter. The approximate Taxi fare from Taichung Airport to Taichung City Center ranges from NT $750 – $1,000.
